At
the Union Government meeting held on 2 February at the President House,
State
Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior
General Min Aung Hlaing gave a guidance to bring back Myanmar citizens long
lasting stranding abroad soonest as they who are facing a lot of troubles in
foreign countries due to COVID-19 should come back home. So, Naval Vessel
Mottama, seagoing mobile hospital Thanlwin and war vessel Hsinbyushin led by
Commodore Naing Min Kyaw of the Tatmadaw (Navy) left Yangon for Lumut naval
port in Malaysia on 15 February to bring back Myanmar citizens who were facing
various difficulties to come back to Myanmar for many reasons since the past.
The
three naval ships of the Tatmadaw (Navy) arrived at Lumut naval port on 21 February
morning and properly took over 1,086 Myanmar citizens through the Myanmar Embassy
to Malaysia and officials of the Malaysian Immigration Department. In the evening,
the naval ships left Lumut naval port for Yangon, Myanmar.
Those
Myanmar citizens have the certificates of identity (C of I) for returning home
and passed the COVID-19 test. The homecoming people underwent health check, and
got cloths and personal items and received a warm welcome and appropriate
accommodation on their return journey.
Arrangements
will be made for their soonest reunion with their families and generate job opportunities
for those returnee Myanmar citizens. Tatmadaw members are providing them with
security, food, accommodation and healthcare service on board the war ships including
seagoing mobile hospital Thanlwin during the homecoming voyage. They will arrive
back in Myanmar on 27 February.
A programme to retrieve Myanmar citizens who were facing various kinds of difficulties in Malaysia to come back home was presented to the former government. It was not successful as it was not approved.
Only
at present, the programme can be successfully realized.
