Action taken in accordance with law against
rioting anarchist mobs in Pakokku, Magway Region

After a state of emergency has been declared in the country since 1
February 2021, the public was warned on 26 February that action would be taken
in accordance with the law against violators of Section 144 of the Criminal
Procedure and those who force others to participate in and incite the CDM.
At about 8 am today, about 1,000 rioters who wanted to undermined the
stability and tranquility of the State gathered at the junction of Htindan Road
and Tatma Road in Pakokku in Magway Region, one of the towns under Section 144
of the Criminal Procedure, and chanted slogans, incited demonstrations and caused
brawls.
Therefore, security forces requested the protesters not to gather crowds
by respecting and abiding by existing laws but the latter not only refused to
disperse but also blocked the corner of Htindan Road and Yokesone Kyaung Road with
bricks, sand, rocks, bamboo and woods and committed violent acts by attacking
the security forces with slingshots, rocks, iron nuts,glass marbles and iron
arrows shot by catapults. Therefore, members of the police dispersed the crowd under
crowd dispersal procedure in accordance with the law, and the crowd dispersed
at about 12.30 pm.
During the dispersal of the crowd, a man of about 40 years of age was
hit by a .12 bolt rubber bullet, which broke the blood vessel at the upper end
of his thigh near the left suprapubic area, and died. Concerning the incident,
the relevant police station has launched an investigation by opening an autopsy
case and detained 51 persons who led the crowd to be taken action against them
in accordance with the law.
The public should not accept the incitement of instigator NLD politicians
and is requested to conduct one’s own livelihood peacefully and to abide by
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure.
